GENOME SHOCKER: Homo Erectus genes in modern humans?

On the mainstream website there is an article by Alice Klein which reports that in addition to two hominin species that the 60,000 year old Asia-Pacific humans mated with, the Neanderthals and the Denisovans, there is a third unknown species that is not accounted for in the genomes of living Indigenous Australians, Papuans, people from the Andaman Islands near India, and from mainland India. Some scientists are speculating that this species may be Homo Erectus but there is no H.E. skeleton well-preserved enough to test from although, at some point, there well may be.
