Bears Gone Violent!!! BRING ON THE BEAR DOG!!!!!

This week, a black bear tore into a camper's tent in the mountains above Los Angeles, ripping open an 18 stitch forehead wound.
In another bear attack this week, a grizzly killed a bicyclist riding in the Flathead National Forest in in Helena, Montana. A little over a week ago a New Mexico marathon runner was attacked by a black bear three miles from the finish line. This is far from an epidemic but bear attacks are on the rise partially due to an increase in the bear population particularly in the Northern Rockies where there have been at least seven fatal maulings in the region since 2010, including the Helena, Montana attack.

Which brings us to the Bear Dog, scientifically classified in the family Amphicyonidae. The Bear Dog ranged over North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa 46.2 to 1.8 million years ago. Just like scientists are finding Neanderthal genes in modern humans and dormant ancestral dinosaur genes in chickens, are there dormant genes in modern bears or wolves that can be tweaked to bring out Bear Dog characteristics? Dogs/wolves have been tweaked genetically for centuries and bears, which are are more closely related to Bear Dogs than wolves, could be tweaked in such a way as to bring out both ancestral dog and wolf characteristics.

Familiarize yourself with the Bear Dog through the video below.

    1. Can you imagine the versions of animals we'd have if people bred bears or lions like they did with dogs? You might even have docile lions that are bigger than regular lions like you have docile dogs that are bigger than wolves.

    2. That would need a very large kitty litter tray xx

    3. Good point. Maybe they could breed them to take small dumps.

    4. If I could have a friendly 1000 pound lion as a pet it would be worth building the world's largest kitty litter. Small price to pay.
